MEXICO CITY, Might 23 (Reuters) – 4 staff have been injured in a fireplace on the Lazaro Cardenas refinery operated by state-oil agency Petroleos Mexicanos (Pemex) within the japanese metropolis of Minatitlan, the corporate stated on Wednesday.
Three staff suffered burns and a fourth suffered a sprain within the incident late Tuesday, Pemex stated in an announcement. Manufacturing was not affected on the refinery, one among six operated by the agency in Mexico, which has a capability of as much as 285,000 barrels per day, it added.
Pemex stated it is going to proceed with an investigation into the reason for the incident.
The civil safety authorities of Veracruz state stated late Tuesday that Pemex personnel, civil safety and well being authorities had coordinated a response to the fireplace which broke out and was managed that evening.
Pictures shared on Twitter by Mexican newspaper Reforma and a video shared by Grupo System purportedly present a part of the refinery in Veracruz state engulfed in flames and surrounded by thick plumes of smoke.
Reuters couldn’t independently confirm the pictures and video.
In February, two folks died of accidents in hospital and one other three have been hospitalized after a fireplace on the Minatitlan refinery.
